Objectives

  1. Students will define goals.
  2. Students will use goals in a sentence.
  3. Students will give examples of goals.
  4. Students will list advantages for setting goals.
  5. Students will recognize how goals are developed.
  6. Students will recognize what motivates them to set goals.

Materials

  1. Pen or pencil
  2. Notebook paper
  3. Rulers or yardstick
  4. Markers, crayons or colored pencils
  5. Construction paper, poster board, tag board or bulletin paper
  6. Magazines or newspaper
  7. Scissors
  8. Glue or paste

Pre-Test

Directions: Use 30 seconds to think about the title of this lesson. (Do not write, just think)
Use five minutes writing your thoughts, ideas, feelings and experiences about the word that is in the title of this lesson. GO!

  3. What can someone do for themselves in order to achieve their goals?
  4. List goals people can reach in society.
  5. What is the difference between a goal and a dream?
  6. List careers where people have the opportunity to help people achieve their goals. Explain.
  7. How does someone know when their goal has been reached?
  8. Explain how reaching a goal could be challenging.

Independent Practice-(5 Examples 0f 15 Questions)

Choose any 12 of the 15 questions to write about. You will be given 25 minutes to answer the questions.

  1. Do you set goals? Why? Why not?
  2. What daily goals would a student have who wants to learn?
  3. Who introduced you to the concept of goals?
  4. When you reach a goal, how do you feel?
  5. Can you use the information from this lesson to help you be successful? Explain.
