Sample Self-Esteem Lesson Plan - What Do I Believe?

What Do I Believe?

Just for today I will be aware of what I believe about myself as a student. In this school day I will have many opportunities to put into practice what I believe. Do I believe that I can pass into the next grade level? Do I believe I can make it in regular classes? Do I believe that I can learn? Do I believe that I have the skills necessary to accomplish my goals? What does it mean to believe? To believe means to take as true or real. When I believe I can do something, it will give me the mental means to do it. When I believe I can change something about myself, it will give me the mental means to change. When I believe that I am improving daily as a student, it will give me mental means to improve. When I believe something about myself, I am gifting myself with power, strength, motivation and desire. I do not have to look at what others believe about me. I can start believing in myself and then making an effort to allow that belief to form. To believe also means to have confidence in a statement made by myself or someone else. What statements do I allow myself to believe that are made by others? If a student says that I am stupid, do I believe this is true? When my teacher says that I can complete all of my work today, do I believe this to be true? I should remember all the skills necessary to follow the rules, pay attention, stay focused, complete my assignments on time and change the negative behaviors that are preventing me from doing so. I will believe that I can accomplish anything today and in doing so I will take this same belief into tomorrow. Just for today I believe that I can be the best student possible!
